HL Air Valves

HL Hutterer Lechner GmbH (vacuum valves) air return valves for sewage systems are an integral part of sewage systems. The non-return air valve is used to prevent the breakdown of hydraulic locks in plumbing fixtures during maximum drainage hours and to prevent odor from entering the sewage system into the premises during minimum drainage hours.

Should the ventilated part of the sewer riser always be led to the roof?
In some cases, it is allowed not to do this. In paragraph 4.13. SP 40-107-2003, as well as the Standard “SanteIIIIproekt” specify the regulations for the use of reverse air sewer valves HL900N and HL900NECO, namely: “If it is not possible to install an exhaust part and a non-vented sewer riser, it is allowed to use a reverse air valve for sewage (a vacuum valve for sewage ) (Appendix B) ... ”.

What is a sewer check valve used for?
Non-return air valves (vacuum valves) can be used: to increase the throughput of unventilated sewer risers (SP 40-107-2003 and Standard SantekhnIIIIproekt); to prevent the breakdown of hydraulic locks in devices connected to horizontal pipelines (MGSN 4.19-2005); for supplying air to the backup gutters (MGSN 4.19-2005).

Is it possible to install non-return air valves for sewage on all risers in a building?
The exhaust part of the sewer riser performs two functions: the first is the satisfaction of the ejection ability of water, i.e. ability to carry air during the maximum drainage hours, and the second - ventilation of external sewage networks during the minimum drainage hours. Therefore, when installing risers equipped with non-return air sewer valves, it is necessary to take into account the need for ventilation of the external sewer network serving the building under construction. The number of ventilated sewer risers is determined by the formula: n = kW / Q. Where n is the number of exhaust parts of risers Ø100 mm; k = 80-100 - daily rate of air exchange in the sewer network; W - capacity of the calculated section of the sewer network, m³; Q = 320 m³ / day - estimated consumption of polluted air leaving the exhaust part of a single sewer riser Ø100 mm. All other risers in the building may be unventilated or equipped with HL non-return air valves (vacuum valves). (p. 17.21 Standard "SantekhNIIproekt")

Where can a non-return air valve for sewage be installed?
Non-return air valve (vacuum valve) HL Hutterer Lechner GmbH is installed indoors vertically in the upper part of the sewer riser no lower than 300 mm from the point of connection of the floor drain. When used in horizontal areas, a non-return air valve for sewage is attached to the sunbed at its beginning (in the place farthest from the riser). For flush mounting, it is necessary to ensure unhindered air flow to the valve.

How does a non-return air valve to a sewer work?

When rarefaction occurs in the sewer riser, the rubber membrane of the non-return air valve rises and passes air into the riser. When equalizing the pressure inside the riser with atmospheric pressure, the membrane of the non-return air valve drops under its own weight and reliably closes the contaminated air (sewer gases) in the pipelines.

At what temperature can a non-return air valve for sewage work?
The range of operating temperatures of non-return air valves (vacuum valves) is from - 50ºС to + 100ºС. They can be installed in a cold attic, but at the same time it is necessary to insulate all sewer pipelines within a cold room (Section 17.17, SantekhNIIproekt Standard). The air return valve for sewerage can not be insulated, since it has a removable cover, an air cavity remains between the removable cover and the body of the reverse air sewer valve - air is a poor heat conductor, and acts as a heater.

How reliable are HL check valves?
Any HL air return valve for sewage (vacuum valve) must, without loss of operability and tightness, open and close at least 800 thousand times! Due to such stringent quality requirements in the production of non-return air valves at the factory, each non-return air valve is tested for operability and tightness.
